CHICANONAUTICA SNEEKS SCI-FI ACROSS THE TORTILLA CURTIAN

It's Chicanonautica time over at La Bloga again! Since I'm still being held hostage by Borders, it's a short, sweet announcement about how Mexican science fiction has found its way into Rudy Rucker's Flurb, in Spanish and English thanks to guest editor Eileen Gunn. And how globalization of the genre is developing thanks to Jetse de Vries.

So -- over here at Mondo Ernesto, I'm bringing you news of a long lost Santo movie, El Vampiro y El Sexo, which would have fit in with the current trend for sexy vampires if Hijo de Santo hadn't said no to the release.

As a video extra, here's a classic fight scene from Santo vs Blue Demon In Atlantis. The embedding was disabled by request, but it's worth the click. And don't miss the shadow of the camera!

And check out this trailer:

Now, if we could just get more of this kind of stuff on the NorteAmericano side of the Tortilla Curtain!

  1. For something a little farther south of the Tortilla Curtain, you might be interested in this article from Inter Nova's nonfiction section, an essay on Sci Fi and Fantasy in Latin America.
